Parking Details

Near University College For free short-term visitor's parking, go to the University Avenue Garage. Take your parking stub to UC for validation.

Special Provisions for SU Part-Time Students: A parking permit must be purchased to park in designated SU lots at any time--day or evening--unless pay-by-the-hour visitor lots are used (see "Permit Parking" for details) UC EVENING PARKING ON CAMPUS: Part-time/UC students with valid parking permits may park in any orange lot on Main Campus (see list, next page) after 5 p.m. and on the weekends, except during Dome events.

Graduate Students: You may request a special permit that gives you an extra parking privilege on main campus for the regular student parking fee if you ask Parking Services for it. This additional permit entitles you to park after 5 p.m. and on weekends, except during special event restrictions, in Quad 4 and Irving Garage. If your class is scheduled after 4 p.m. for a building on the Quad of Main Campus, you may request a special permit to allow early parking in the West Campus on a space-available basis.

The following lighted lots are available after 5 p.m. to vehicles with currently valid SU permits:
1: University Place between College Place and Comstock Avenue *
2: Nursing North off Adams Street
3: Nursing South off Marshall Street
4: Comstock accessible from Comstock Avenue north of the Science and Technology Center
5: Women's Building off Comstock Avenue
6: West Campus four lots west of Stadium Place

During emergencies and special situations, it may become necessary for the Public Safety Department or Parking Services to temporarily suspend or otherwise modify specific regulations found in this brochure or otherwise posted. In such cases, actions to this effect will be communicated by signs or other markings, public announcement, or on-site supervision. Temporary regulations and restrictions shall be enforced accordingly.

Permit Parking

Evening:
Purchase a Manley permit if you plan to park on the Main Campus regularly for UC evening classes or for using campus resources. Manley permits are valid in all orange lots after 5 p.m. and on the weekends, except during Dome events. Graduate students may request additional parking privileges described below. For daytime access, park at Manley Field House. There is a free shuttle bus from Manley to the main campus.

Afternoon:
If your class begins after 4 p.m. but before 5 p.m., you may request a service pass for a perimeter lot such as West Campus when you apply for your UC Night Lots permit. You will need to show your class schedule to obtain this pass.

Daytime:
If you wish to park on the main campus regularly before 5 p.m., you must purchase an SU student permit (West Campus is recommended) or pay an hourly rate at a visitor lot. Please contact Parking Services for more information.

Snow emergencies may cause restrictions in certain lots after midnight. Please see lot signs for directions.

Special Restrictions During Dome Events

Special parking restrictions apply during Carrier Dome events.
If you plan to park on the Main Campus, be aware of the schedule. The Syracuse Record, published weekly during the academic year, describes restrictions for specific events in "The SU Calendar."

Permit Parking:
SU permits are valid in University Place, Nursing North and South, Comstock, and Lehman on a space available basis. The West Campus lot is normally open to Manley permits but is closed during basketball event restrictions.

Visitor Parking:
At the Waverly Avenue, Comstock, and Marion lots, special event rates are charged. The Raynor Avenue visitor lot is closed.

Alternative Routes for Dome-Event Nights:
Students with valid University parking stickers who have an academic need to be on Main Campus during Carrier Dome events should plan to park in the University Place, Nursing North and South, Lehman, Comstock or Women's Building North and South lots. Because of the traffic congestion and high demand for parking, please allow extra travel time. You need to alter your route to campus to avoid predictable traffic congestion, such as the Almond Street exit of the Route 81/690 interchange, Adams Street, or the Colvin Street/Comstock Avenue intersection.

Here are suggested routes for avoiding traffic tie-ups:

From the east: From the intersection of Erie Boulevard and Teall/Columbus, go south on Columbus Avenue for four blocks and turn left onto East Genesee. Go one block and turn right onto Westcott, go five blocks and turn right onto Euclid Avenue and go seven blocks to Ostrom or Comstock. Turn right off Ostrom or Comstock for the University Place, Comstock, Women's Building, or Nursing lots.

From the west: Exit Route 690 at West Street, then go east on Fayette Street to University Avenue; turn right. After you pass the Harrison Street intersection, take the next left to the University Avenue/Alibrandi parking lot. Or, turn left off University Avenue onto Madison, turn right onto Ostrom. Turn right off Ostrom at Marshall for the Nursing lots, or right at University Place (and then left) for the University Place lot, left onto Comstock for the Comstock or Women's Building lot.

From the north: Exit south-bound Route 81 at Clinton Street (downtown). Stay on Clinton until Fayette Street. Turn left and stay on Fayette. Follow the "From the west" directions on the route to campus lots from there.

From the south: Avoiding the Route 81 Adams Street exit, go north on South Salina Street until the fork in the road to Warren Street (by Graystone Square). Take the next right onto Adams. Then turn left onto State, go two blocks, and turn right at Genesee. Stay on Genesee until University Avenue; turn right. Follow the "From the west" directions from there.
